Kidsgrove Juniors to compete at DCE in 2012 PDF  | Print |  E-mail

Kidsgrove Scouts Juniors are pleased to announce that they’ll be competing at the Drum Corps Europe Championships in 2012. The Junior Corps, who are the current Drum Corps United Kingdom and British Youth Band Association Junior Class Champions, have been working hard over the past few months to raise the money to fund their trip to Kerkrade in the Netherlands in September 2012.

2012 will be the first year the Juniors will compete in DCE. The decision to enter the European Championships has been in discussion with staff and members’ families for a few months now to make sure that it was the right decision for the Juniors to enter the Championships. We’re all delighted that we’ve been able to apply for the Championships and been invited by DCE to attend. Over the last three years the Junior Corps have gone from strength to strength and the trip will be a fantastic opportunity to progress the members of the corps to a higher level.

Fundraising efforts include monthly car washes which have each raised over £100, Christmas Carols in Stoke-on-Trent and individual fundraising efforts. A Christmas Concert was held on Tuesday 20 December, where members of the Junior Corps and Winterguard performed to family and friends. The concert raised £97.

The Juniors will be announcing their 2012 production in the next month and are really excited about the 2012 season and the trip to the Netherlands.
